This extended version of the classic Annapurna Circuit includes a detour to the stunning Tilicho Lake (4,919 meters), one of the world’s highest lakes, nestled beneath snow-capped peaks in a breathtaking alpine setting.
The trek begins in the lush lowlands of the Marsyangdi Valley, where terraced farms and vibrant villages reflect Nepal’s rural charm. As you ascend, the landscapes transform dramatically—from subtropical forests to alpine meadows and eventually to arid high-altitude deserts. Along the way, you’ll pass through diverse ethnic villages inhabited by Gurung, Thakali, and Tibetan-influenced communities, each offering a warm welcome and unique cultural experiences.
The highlight of the trek is the crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters), the highest point on the route, offering panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Before reaching the pass, you’ll make an unforgettable side trip to Tilicho Lake, a serene and surreal glacial lake tucked against dramatic cliffs and icy peaks.
After the pass, the route descends into the sacred valley of Muktinath and the windswept landscapes of the Kali Gandaki Gorge—the world’s deepest gorge—before concluding in the apple orchards of Jomsom or Tatopani.
This trek offers a life-changing journey for trekkers seeking both adventure and tranquility. With its diverse terrain, spiritual encounters, and unmatched Himalayan views, the Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake is a true Himalayan epic.
